With the warmer, rather hot weather we have been experiencing in Nairobi lately, I have taken to looking at those trends which I would love to wear now that I can safely expose more skin without getting the sniffles. Ruffles are the first trend that come to mind. This trend took a little getting used to. At first it seemed overwhelming. But ruffles are the perfect way to add some pizzazz to an otherwise simple outfit. Below are some outfits that I absolutely love and would like to recreate.  There are some trends that come that I instantly fall in love with like ripped jeans, full skirts, block heels or capes. Then there are others that take a bit of time to find a place in my heart. Skinny scarves are one such trend. When they first became popular, I thought, OK, let's see. But with time I have grown to love them.  I like them best styled as a choker of sorts to elevate a simple outfit like trousers and a t-shirt.  Ever since I started wearing flat shoes 98% of the time, I promised myself that I would look for shoes with eye-catching details, no matter how small (or loud for that matter). Enter metallic shoes. When I first saw these shoes, while shopping for a client, I was a bit hesitant about them. I kept wondering, why and where I would wear such shiny shoes!But after letting them marinate in my mind for some time and checking out some of my favourite bloggers, and scrolling through Pinterest of course, I was finally convinced of the awesomeness of metallic shoes. Baby, it's cold out. I looove the cold weather. OK, I also love the heat. But I find the cold provides so much room for creativity when it comes to what you can wear. Personally, my closet choices this time of year revolve around long sleeves, heavier fabrics like leather, tweed, felt, wool and heavier cottons as well as tights. My love affair with the colour black usually hits its peak at this time. For this post, I thought it would be fun to mix in some geometrical prints, florals and furs. Trousers are of course very, very welcome, so jeans will definitely get a pass, flared jeans, wide-leg trousers and hey, why not try out styling sweatpants in a chic, fashionable way? As for shoes, closed toe are the ideal, so I'm thinking ankle boots, flats, pumps and for those of us who have refused to be uncomfortable, sneakers worn with everything! It looks like 90s fashion is back with a bang. From chokers and bodysuits to dungarees and now turtlenecks. The list of trends to try is long and it excites me. These trends bring back such memories of my childhood and remind me of clothes that I loved but unfortunately outgrew. Today, let's talk about he turtleneck.
