So the Oscars came and went this past weekend and I am still oogling at the red carpet looks. I had been a little disappointed with the Golden Globes red carpet style so I was counting on the Oscars to make my month, celebrity style-wise. I love a red carpet. Well, I love the fashion on the red carpet and the 2015 Grammy's was no different. Below are my favourite celebrity looks from the show last night. Chrissy Tiegen Mrs John Legend is fast becoming a style icon here on the blog. I love cut-outs and to add to that a white dress, this was a definite win for me. This week's Celebrity Style post features a new style icon and some old favourites. I like the controversy, well, I enjoy how the Kardashians keep people guessing. While I admire the three older sisters, and would almost kill for a taste of their Kardashian Kollection, I have developed a liking the two younger sisters more and more. I especially like Kylie Jenner. I was gushing over her magazine shoot for Cosmopolitan the other day and couldn't help but admire her in this black crotchet midi dress. Then there's no hiding how much I love Lupita. Did you know she is the cover girl for Lucky Magazine for March this year? As much as I love to see her in various shades of lipstick, it's nice to see her au naturelle on this cover. And then of course there is my other favourite, Kerry Washington who once again wowed in a polka dot dress by Dolce & Gabbana that inspired a DIY which I can't wait to share with you. The Screen Actors' Guilds Awards were held last night and even though I didn't manage to watch (I love my sleep too much), this morning I was stunned by a photo of Lupita Nyong'o looking gorgeous in an Ellie Saab gown. I loved the fact that she didn't play it safe in a plain coloured gown and instead opted for a mixed print (flowers and stripes) full-sleeved gown with a plunging neckline, showing off just the right amount of skin. I was also drawn to Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis and Ariel Winter's choice of white gowns because, well, I love the colour white. So I am a bit biased... Emma Stone was another favourite in her menswear inspired LBD. I love a little androgynous look mixed in with feminine touches like her sheer train. This week's celebrity street style features some interesting detailing and style from a few older women. I like that they show that you don't have to try so hard to look good. All you need is a bit of make-up, a good outfit and a few accessories and you are good to go. Michelle Obama Michelle Obama wowed yet again in a tweed Michael Kors suit at the State of the Union address this past Tuesday. I particularly loved the wide collar and exposed zip detail. Incidentally, this suit was also worn by Alicia Florick on the Good Wife. Jeniffer Lopez For her appearance on the Wendy Williams Show, Jennifer Lopez looked stunning dressed in all black. What struck me most is how beautiful the 45 year old mum of two looks! She's an inspiration for sure: just because you are getting older and are a mum does not mean you have to look frumpy! Last Sunday were the Golden Globes and while I wasn't as excited about the outfits as I have been in past awards shows, I had a few favorites. I was particularly smitten by Emma Stones Jumpsuit with it's surprise bow and Kerry Washington's colour-blocked gown. This past Wednesday was the People's Choice Awards and I had few favourite outfits that I thought could be translated into an everyday wardrobe. I've shared them below. As much as I love Beyonce and try to learn from her (you know, working hard to fulfill your dream), I often find myself gravitating towards the younger Ms. Knowles i.e. Solange. I love her style. I find it so effortless and unique and laid back, something that I find I opt for particularly these days when I don't want to think too much about what to wear. Did you see her wedding dress? I posted a pic of it on my Instagram (you can follow me @inches2style) and saved it for future reference. The simplicity and elegance of it all made my heart sing. And this pic with her man? That jumpsuit, for me, puts to shame many a jumpsuit that I have seen and perhaps own. What I love most about her style is that her outfits always have something unexpected be it a cape, an interesting hemline and of course her signature afro.
