i2s Faves: Sag Awards 2015

The Screen Actors' Guilds Awards were held last night and even though I didn't manage to watch (I love my sleep too much), this morning I was stunned by a photo of Lupita Nyong'o looking gorgeous in an Ellie Saab gown. I loved the fact that she didn't play it safe in a plain coloured gown and instead opted for a mixed print (flowers and stripes) full-sleeved gown with a plunging neckline, showing off just the right amount of skin.



I was also drawn to Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis and Ariel Winter's choice of white gowns because, well, I love the colour white. So I am a bit biased...


Emma Stone was another favourite in her menswear inspired LBD. I love a little androgynous look mixed in with feminine touches like her sheer train.


For the guys, the cast of Modern Family did not disappoint. It's nice to see them clean up so nicely.

A labour of love: Long days, bee stings and a global premiere

“Amkeni” roughly translates to “Rise Up” in Kiswahili. This is the call of Chambuko Amkeni, a community-led conservation group involved in mangrove restoration and protection. In 2025, I had the honour of working with them to document their journey on women’s leadership in coastal and marine conservation, climate change adaptation and the blue economy, for a collaboration between Mission inclusion and the BBC StoryWorks'   for the   Living Legacy Series . This was my first time working on a project of this magnitude not to mention one that would have a global audience. To say this has been one of the highlights of the last two years is an understatement. Just thinking about it, my heart swells with pride. I feel like a mother watching her baby grow and come of age (please don't tell my daughter this!). Five Books I Want To Read in 2019

My love for reading books has always been bubbling beneath the surface and it has finally blown over. I've not always been a great reader. To make matters worse, motherhood has given me even less time for leisure activities like reading. However, I started pushing myself a bit and now I make time to read.  I find it a good use of time to read while in the matatu, when I take myself on a lunch date or when my eyes need a rest from constantly staring at a screen.  This year, I have decided to challenge myself a bit more by documenting the books I have read and loved as well as have a running list of books that I would love to read.
