DRESS-DOWN FRIDAY IN BLACK, PLUM AND BROWN

Image
Hi all!! First of all, a big welcome to my new followers.  So glad the weekend is here, I had to celebrate by going a little crazy with my accessories. I find that during the work week it's quite often that you keep your outfit and accessories understated. But on Friday you have a chance to properly showcase your personal style. And for me this means statement jewellery/accessories. What's your personal preference when it comes to accessories? Do you go for simple pieces or are you more of a the more elaborate the better kind of girl? Happy Friday!!! xo Audrey You can also find me on: Facebook     Twitter     Pinterest     Bloglovin Shop My Closet

TUCKED IN DENIM TO CHURCH

Image
Hi all!!!  This is what I wore to Church last Sunday. I wanted a warm, comfortable look so I wore my dark blue skinny jeans, yellow checked shirt and black blazer.  I accessorized with my new embellished earrings, blue and black checked bangles, blue ring, and black handbag and boots.  I have been trying to have my nails done so over the weekend they were pink and blue. This week I've had them in nude and with a little bit of artwork. Happy Saturday xo Audrey You can also find me on: Facebook     Twitter     Pinterest     Bloglovin Shop My Closet

WHAT I WORE: Fashion Trance 2012

Image
Hi all!! Happy new month. I hope you are as excited as I am for the holidays. Last week, I won a pair of VIP tickets from Nancie Mwai to attend the Fashion Trance event held at the Mamba Village, Nairobi. I was so excited to have worn. I think this is the first giveaway I've ever won!!!  I went for a practical yet chic look because the weather was so uncertain. I chose my purple denim trousers, a sequin top and wedges. I carried my trench coat because I knew I would be reaching the house very late.   Because sequins can be a little too much, I kept my jewellery simple by wearing my ethnic Indian chandelier earrings which I absolutely love, a polka dot bracelet and purple ring. I had wanted to carry a clutch but then I realized that it wouldn't fit all the things I wanted to carry so I opted for this handbag. Oh and I finally got the first edition of my business cards. I'm so excited, I'd been meaning to get them done for so long that on Friday I ...

LOVE YOUR BODY WITH ALL ITS "IMPERFECTIONS"

Image
Hi all!!! Thank God its Friday!!!!  When I was 16 years old I tripped and fell and cut myself on a piece of barbed wire. This wasn't much big of a deal until I was forced to get a tetanus shot and when the wound healed it left an ugly scar on the inside of my knee. I was so self-conscious that I kissed goodbye any opportunity to wear anything that would show my scar.   But today, after taking the pludge and wearing my new denim skirt, as I was walking to get the bus, I told myself that it didn't matter anymore. This scar has been a part of me for the last so many years and I just have to embrace and love it. So this is me, declaring my love for all my "imperfections". These are the things that make me Audrey and not anybody else. Do you find it difficult to embrace those parts of your body that are said to be unacceptable? Have a wonderful weekend.  Happy Friday!!! xo Audrey You can also find me on: Facebook     Twitter ...

DRESSED FOR A MEETING

Image
Last Friday I met one of the people who really inspire me. I met Carol Odero of Drum Magazine. She also writes a column on the Sunday Nation which is how I got to know of her. Carol is a lovely lady who has no airs at all!!! A good friend/ mentor told her about me and my blog and she said I could contact her. I was so scared of calling her because she's so well established in the fashion industry and here I am a girl who's only knowledge of fashion is what she reads on blogs and on online versions of InStyle Magazine and what she sees on celebrities. I was petrified!!! But on meeting her, it was so easy to talk to her. She wasn't at all unapproachable. We had a good chat and she encouraged me to continue following my passion for fashion. As it was Friday (dress, down Friday anyone!!!) I chose to wear black jeans and this white blouse that I bought last weekend when I was hanging out with mum. The blouse has navy blue buttons which make it so pretty. I didn't want to o...

DRESSED IN PURPLE DENIM AND TURQUOISE

Image
I love these purple jeans. I last wore them here . Since they aren't stretch jeans and they are a perfect fit, when I put on even a few grams of weigh, they don't fit!!! On Sunday I was going through my clothes, trying to decide what to wear to church. I had picked these purple jeans and a black top. But as I was removing clothes from the line, I had unconsciously put my dad's purple shirt and blue-green t-shirt together. Then my sister mentioned to me that those colours look great together!!! We quickly went into her wardrobe and pulled out this sheer top which we quickly paired with these jeans. I didn't want to know whether the jeans would fit or not. I was determined to wear this outfit.  Outfit Details: Purple jeans: Sarojini Market, India Sheer top: from my sister Necklace, bracelets and earrings: gift Clutch: gift Heels: gift I chose brown accessories and because I thought it was a subtle enough colour to let the rest of the outfit stand out. ...

DRESSED IN SKINNY JEANS AND TUNIC SHIRT

Image
Hi guys!! I hope you've been well. I know I've been scarce, I'm sorry. I've been trying to get settled at work and relearn how to organize myself. I hope from now on I'll be back to making regular posts.  Point to note: On the 12th of this month I'll be celebrating one year since I started blogging!! I can hardly believe that it was a year ago when I decided to take the plunge and get into this scary but fun world of being a fashion and style blogger. I wore this to church one Sunday when I was feeling completely out of it. I looked at all my dresses and couldn’t get any styling inspiration. I thus opted for the easiest items from my wardrobe that I could put together, i.e. my skinny jeans and white tunic shirt.  Outfit Details: Skinny Jeans: Big C, New Delhi Shirt: Sarojini Market, New Delhi Heels: gift Clutch and Necklace: gift from mum Earrings: gift Bangles: Sarojini Market, India I’m one of those gi...

DRESSED IN BLACK AND YELLOW

Black is one of my favourite colours. I know, I've been told that wearing too much black could mean you are depressed or are too lazy to add more colour to your outfits. DRESSED IN:CROPPED PANTS AND DENIM JACKET

Image
There are days when I just want to dress down. On such days I reach out for my denim trousers, a graphic   t-shirt   and some ballet flats. But other times, when I just want to try out something slightly different I go with cropped pants, a summery top and flats. Cropped pants are basically trousers that reach slightly above your ankles. They are great for the warmer weather like we have been enjoying this week. And the great thing about them is that you don’t have to go out and buy yourself a pair. You can easily make a fold on your straight-leg trousers and voila, you have yourself a pair of cropped pants. They are great paired with cute sandals, wedges or a pair of ballet flats. If your trousers consist of basic colours like blacks, browns or grey, pair them with cute colourful tops. Incase it's a little chilly buy the time you are leaving the house, wear a denim jacket that can easily be removed when it gets warmer. Outfit Details: Cropped pants...
