AUDREY'S STYLE: Full- Volume Skirt

Image
I developed an obsession with full-volume skirts a few months ago and actually did a post on it (see post on how to wear a full-volume skirt ). Add to that, midi skirts are also becoming a favourite of mine (see post on how to style a midi skirt ). So you can understand my love for this skirt. I found it one time while looking for stock for my shop and I said if the waist didn't fit I would go on a diet to make sure that it did. I was that obsessed. It also has pockets which for me is a huge plus! I wore it last Sunday to Church and paired it with a polka dot shirt and white peep-toe wedges. I added a statement necklace and red lipstick. I was literally running out of the house so I didn't have time to look for earrings or my watch. The biggest fear of wearing a full-volume midi skirt is that it will make you look like you have put on a few kilos. That was my initial reaction to them. But then I discovered that if you keep the proportions right, this type of skirt can also b...

AUDREY'S STYLE: Assymetrical Hemline + Loafers

Image
Hello lovelies! For me to wear skirts, they must have something of interest that makes them stand out. I'm not a huge fan of skirts and only recently added them to my wardrobe. I bought this skirt last year but it was too big for me. I had intentions of altering it a bit but I couldn't find a way to do so without spoiling it's style. So I left it alone. After I had Elly, who celebrates her 5 month birthday today, I tried it on once again and it fitted. I have worn it once before and this time it begged to make a debut on the blog. I paired it with a multi-coloured printed shirt and light pink blazer, white loafers, pink earrings and a drop necklace. I wasn't sure about the shoes but I think the outfit turned out ok. I'm having a bit of a difficult time wearing skirts because I still don't have much of a waistline but I don't want to give up just yet. I love challenges and this is one I am yet to declare defeat.   Outfit Details: Skirt: B...

AUDREY'S STYLE: The Denim Shirt Dress

Image
Hello lovelies! I'm a sucker for shirt-dresses. I have quite a few (see here and here ) and when I found this denim shirt-dress, I had to add it to my collection. With my new love for a minimalist wardrobe, I now only add things to it that I truly love and will look forward to wearing. Ever since I got this denim shirt-dress, I have worn it three times. Now that the weather is quite cold, I styled it with some dark tights, combat boots (previously worn with boyfriend jeans ) and a wool coat for an afternoon running errands. This scarf is sooo warm. I have had it for a year now and it's doing its second in the cold season. I love that it adds a pop of colour to my outfit without being too dramatic. Outfit Details: Shirt-dress: Botique i2s; Jacket: borrowed from my sister; Scarf: Gikomba; Boots: Ngara; Handbag: Bus-Station; Earrings: Nakumatt Lifestyle Have you tried out shirt-dresses? Do you love them or hate them? Do share in the comments below, on Fac...

AUDREY'S STYLE: Boyfriend Jeans + Sandals + Trench Coat

Image
Hello lovelies! Happy new month! It has always seemed ironic to me that one can wear a winter coat and put sandals on your feet. It seems contradictory to me because you put on a coat to keep warm but sandals are for warm weather so they shouldn't be making an appearance during the colder months. Anyway, last week while getting ready to take Elly to the clinic, I just didn't feel like putting on closed shoes. It was a warmish day so out came my favourite turquoise sandals. Since I was recovering from the flu, I had to protect my chest so the coat also made an appearance. This was my third attempt to restyle these boyfriend jeans (previously worn with a t-shirt and with combat boots ). Next I think I want to dress them up with some heels. Outfit Details: Jeans: from my sister; Top: Kangemi Market; Trench coat: Ngara; Sandals: Bus-Station; Earrings: Nakumatt Lifestyle Happy Monday and thank you for stopping by! xo Audrey

AUDREY'S STYLE: Pink, Peach and Black

Image
Hello lovelies! It seems like every week I make a resolution to post every single day of that week only to end up with one or two posts on the blog. I'm really trying to be regular it's just that now that I'm starting to work again, I find that my day has so many activities and not enough time. The end result is that my blogging is neglected, an act that leaves me feeling empty. There is a certain something that clicks in me every time I put up a new blog post. I feel like I have accomplished so much! I will keep trying harder and hopefully manage to put up as many posts as I have planned for you. On to today's outfit post. Every time I have worn this top and heels, they have been in the same outfit. The last time I wore them I paired them with a black skirt, something I seem to have repeated last Sunday. This skirt used to belong to my sister until I acquired it (I think she wants it back). I love the floral detailing and the interesting hemline. This top is ...

AUDREY'S STYLE: Maxi Skirt+Army Green Jacket+Brogues

Hello lovelies! I've always wondered what more I can do with my maxi dresses (I have a good number of them) and wearing them as a skirt was an option that I was yet to pursue fully. This is one of my favorite maxi dresses. I have enjoyed styling it through the years (see summary post here ) so on Sunday I decided to try it out as a skirt once again. I paired it with a checked button down shirt and army green jacket. A sequin belt, brogue booties, earrings and a red lip completed my outfit. AUDREY'S STYLE: Green + Purple + Pink

Image
Hello lovelies! There are times when an outfit comes together so well, you have no choice but to marvel at your genius. A couple of weeks ago while preparing for a meeting, I couldn't decide on what to wear. After grappling with various choices, I finally decided to wear this dress whose colors always add an extra spring in my step. I paired it with a grey blazer (previously worn here ) and accessorized it with a necklace, purple peep-toe wedges, a black handbag and a pink turban. The outfit screamed at me to let it be so I went with minimal make-up. This dress made its debut on the blog when I posted about my baby shower. You can see how I styled it as a maternity dress here . Because this is the first time I was wearing it post-baby, I couldn't help but marvel at all the free space it seemed to have. I kept wondering what was missing! I'm looking forward to styling it in warmer weather though. Outfit Details: Dress: Gift ; Blazer: Ngara ; Shoes: ...

HOW TO: Wear A Pencil Skirt | With a T-Shirt and Statement Necklace

Image
Hello lovelies! My quest to learn how to style a pencil skirt continues. I was selling this skirt ( on Botique i2s ) some time ago but I didn't get someone to buy it. So I added it to my arsenal. I have worn it twice since. I previously paired it with a white button down shirt. For last Sunday's Church outfit, I wore it with a chocolate brown t-shirt and added a statement necklace to dress up the outfit a little. My tan brown wedges have finally made a reappearance on the blog. A lime green and brown turban completed the outfit. Outfit Details: Skirt: Botique i2s T-Shirt: India Wedges: Bus Station Necklace: bought from a friend Head-wrap: India  I must say that I prefer this combination of colours more than with the white shirt. What do you think of it? How would you have worn this skirt?   Have you checked out my online store yet? HOW TO: Wear a Pencil Skirt | With a Denim Shirt

Image
Happy new month lovelies!  I hope July is treating you well so far. Is it me or is Nairobi getting colder and colder! I'm beginning to wish I could get a pair of warm adult rompers so I can be as warm as Elly is. I have had this pencil skirt for a while (pre-baby) and even though pencil skirts are quite simple and chic, I can't quite manage to dress it up. I have been on Pinterest hunting for ideas on how to wear a pencil skirt.  For a simple Sunday outfit, worn to Church, I paired it with a denim shirt and some sling backs. Pairing something casual (the denim shirt) with dressy pieces (pencil skirt, heels and some statement jewellery), was my attempt to dress down and not look too formal.  This is my first attempt at styling a pencil skirt, post-maternity. I have found that my style preferences have changed a bit since Elly was born. I will be sure to write a post about this later this month.  Outfit Details: Pencil Skirt: gift, part of a suit ...
