DRESSED FOR MY FIRST KENYAN WEDDING

Image
Hi all!!  This is what I wore last saturday to a wedding I gate-crashed. My dad's workmate was getting married and even though I don't know the couple, and had never heard of them, mum convinced me to go with her.  Because I was caught off-guard, I had no idea what to wear. I like planning my outfits ahead of time otherwise I spend too much time hunting for the perfect outfit and end up getting late. So I grabbed my black lace dress which needs no ironing so yay! I wore this white jacket/top/waterfall, not sure what it is, and held it in place with a leopard print belt. I carried this bag from the day before and added brown wedges. I had a great time at the wedding. Here are some pics from the day. The bridal party after the church service The bride and groom This guy's dancing was so interesting. He was having the best time! DRESS-DOWN FRIDAY IN BLACK, PLUM AND BROWN

Image
Hi all!! First of all, a big welcome to my new followers.  So glad the weekend is here, I had to celebrate by going a little crazy with my accessories. I find that during the work week it's quite often that you keep your outfit and accessories understated. But on Friday you have a chance to properly showcase your personal style. And for me this means statement jewellery/accessories. What's your personal preference when it comes to accessories? Do you go for simple pieces or are you more of a the more elaborate the better kind of girl? Happy Friday!!! xo Audrey You can also find me on: Facebook     Twitter     Pinterest     Bloglovin Shop My Closet

WHAT I WORE: Fashion Trance 2012

Image
Hi all!! Happy new month. I hope you are as excited as I am for the holidays. Last week, I won a pair of VIP tickets from Nancie Mwai to attend the Fashion Trance event held at the Mamba Village, Nairobi. I was so excited to have worn. I think this is the first giveaway I've ever won!!!  I went for a practical yet chic look because the weather was so uncertain. I chose my purple denim trousers, a sequin top and wedges. I carried my trench coat because I knew I would be reaching the house very late.   Because sequins can be a little too much, I kept my jewellery simple by wearing my ethnic Indian chandelier earrings which I absolutely love, a polka dot bracelet and purple ring. I had wanted to carry a clutch but then I realized that it wouldn't fit all the things I wanted to carry so I opted for this handbag. Oh and I finally got the first edition of my business cards. I'm so excited, I'd been meaning to get them done for so long that on Friday I ...

HOW TO WEAR WHITE

Image
How to wear white Hi all!! I hope you're having a good week. White as a neutral colour should not give you too many qualms about wearing it. But I find that sometimes it's very hard to pull out outfits that have white without looking like you picked the white item as an afterthought. Today I want to give you three simple tips on how to wear white. 1. Where all white Contrary to popular belief, wearing all white doesn't necessarily have to make you look like you've put on a few kilos. Wearing one colour does make you look taller and slimmer. The same applies with white. Pair a white top and bottom (be it a skirt or trousers) or a white dress with a solid colour like black or navy or burgundy. White dress with black accents 2. An all white suit All white suits always scare me. Not only the fact that it gets dirty very quickly, but how do you wear it without looking like you are trying to hard? Pair it with a bold camisole or top to create contrast....

NEWLY STYLED YELLOW MAXI DRESS

Image
Hi all!! Maxi dresses are a huge favourite of mine. I recently got a new one and I just had to try and style it differently.  It's as simple as tying a knot and pinning it in place. I used a safety pin which I had to struggle to hide from public view. One of the things I love about blogging is that I get so many ideas from all the wonderful bloggers out there. For instance, I learnt this from   Megan and Sabrina , two very stylish and inspirational bloggers. Outfit Details: Maxi dress: gift. Similar in Ngara, I prefer cotton to synthetics which cling to you Denim jacket: gift Wedges: Moi Avenue Handbag: gift Loop earrings: India I got this maxi dress as a gift from my aunt and although I wasn't too sure about whether or not I liked it, after wearing it for a few minutes I was in love. Where do you get your style inspiration? Happy Tuesday!!! xo Audrey You can also find me on: Facebook     Twitter    ...

DRESSED IN MUSTARD AND STRIPED SKIRT

Image
Hi all!! Are you as excited as I am that it's nearly the weekend? Lately I've been leaning towards wearing more skirts and dresses than trousers. This doesn't mean that I don't wear trousers, it's just that I'm beginning to prefer wearing more feminine pieces. I guess what with my not so new job and my changing lifestyle, my style choices are changing.  I wore this striped navy dress as a skirt and paired it with a cowl neck top and mustard-yellow sweater to the office yesterday. I'm becoming a pro at wearing dresses as skirts and vice-versa. I don't want to shop so much for clothes that I'll get tired of in no time so I try as much as I can to buy versatile clothes.   Outfit Details:  Navy striped dress: Gikomba Market Cowl-neck top: Gift Mustard sweater: Chandigarh, India Navy leather belt: Gikomba Market Handbag + jewellery: gift Wedges: Nairobi streets  This outfit was inspired by one of Jane's looks on Jane by Desi...

DRESSED IN A COAT DRESS

Image
Hi all!!! It's Friday and I'm so excited for the weekend. I haven't yet decide what to do with myself yet but I think I'll take things slow for this one and recharge my batteries. I wore this dress on Monday. I had gone shopping with my mum and sister some time back and I bought so many dresses!! I'm doing a complete wardrobe overhaul and this time I'm focussing more on dresses and skirts for a more feminine look.   When I wore this dress, my brother went like, "You're only wearing a coat!!! What if it gets caught in the bus of something?" I laughed at the scene of me trying to protect my dignity, but with the layers of clothes I usually wear, I had nothing to worry about. Outfit Details:  Dress: Gikomba Market, Nairobi Wedges: Moi Avenue Nairobi Bag: from mum Scarf: from mum Leopard print belt: Gikomba Market Earrings: gift  I wasn't sure on whether or not I liked this dress, but mum really insisted that I buy it.
