ACCESSORIZE: The Satchel

****I have already mentioned my love for accessories on this blog. In this post I will be taking one item of accessory and show-casing the different types available in the market. I will show you how it has been styled by other bloggers or celebrities. I will also style this item. This is in order to give you a few ideas on how you can wear a particular accessory. Enjoy!

I've been seeing satchels all over the blogosphere for example Catherine of Not Dressed as a Lamb and Bonnie of Flashes of Style, and I've fallen for them. I'm on the look out for one!!
Now satchels remind me of old movies, the elk of Oliver Twist. Their shape is quite defined.
They come in a variety of colours form neutrals like black, brown (I consider brown to be a neutral) and nude.


Satchels can also be found in brighter colours and neon, for those who are daring enough to venture away from neutral bags.

A labour of love: Long days, bee stings and a global premiere

“Amkeni” roughly translates to “Rise Up” in Kiswahili. This is the call of Chambuko Amkeni, a community-led conservation group involved in mangrove restoration and protection. In 2025, I had the honour of working with them to document their journey on women’s leadership in coastal and marine conservation, climate change adaptation and the blue economy, for a collaboration between Mission inclusion and the BBC StoryWorks'   for the   Living Legacy Series . This was my first time working on a project of this magnitude not to mention one that would have a global audience. To say this has been one of the highlights of the last two years is an understatement. Just thinking about it, my heart swells with pride. I feel like a mother watching her baby grow and come of age (please don't tell my daughter this!). Five Books I Want To Read in 2019

My love for reading books has always been bubbling beneath the surface and it has finally blown over. I've not always been a great reader. To make matters worse, motherhood has given me even less time for leisure activities like reading. However, I started pushing myself a bit and now I make time to read.  I find it a good use of time to read while in the matatu, when I take myself on a lunch date or when my eyes need a rest from constantly staring at a screen.  This year, I have decided to challenge myself a bit more by documenting the books I have read and loved as well as have a running list of books that I would love to read.
