Having a limited budget means that I have
to find new ways to wear my old clothes. I’d like to shop as much as the next
girl but at the moment that’s not even an option. So a few weeks back I read this post on 5 differentways to wear a pencil skirt from Merrick's Art and I just thought I had to try out some of the
ways. I didn’t use a pencil skirt instead I chose this midi skirt, last worn
here, and wore it as a tunic. I added a maroon blazer and cobalt blue leggings.
I went a little heavy on the accessories (more than I usually do), with a
multi-chain necklace, chandelier earrings and brass bracelets. These bracelets
are my favourite. I’m thinking of going to an Indian shop and buying a few
more. I added a belt as an afterthought because I thought it would help keep
the dress in place and add some shape to the tunic. Since I wanted to wear my
black boots, I chose to carry a black handbag, which is also this clutch and
added a black hair clip.
Outfit Details:
Skirt: from my sister
Blazer: somewhere in town (Nairobi)
Leggings: Kangemi Market
Boots, Necklace and Bracelets: Sarojini
Market, India
Earrings: Moi Avenue, Nairobi
Clutch: Marks and Spencer, India
I wore this outfit for my aunt’s graduation
party. I wanted something smart and comfortable which would allow me maximum
movement. I was the one running errands and being sent here and there so I
didn’t want anything that would get in the way. The only drawback with this
outfit is that when I was helping with
the cooking and serving I was so afraid that I’d get a stain on the white
skirt/tunic! But I learnt how to be extra careful.
