DRESSED IN ALL BLACK, GOLD AND OXBLOOD

Hi all!!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
There are days when the abscence of colour is necessary. On Sunday, I opted to wear my black lace dress and black sling backs to church. The weather took an unexpected turn and it started drizzling just before I left the house so I grabbed my trench coat as an afterthought.
I decided to add colour with my accessories. I wore my gold loop earrings, a gold ring

I carried my oxblood handbag. I love this bag, even though I sort of took it from my mum and stubbornly refused to give it back. But I gave her one of mine in return so I guess we are even.
 And some good news. I finally got a new phone!!! I'm so excited. I can't get enough of it. I wake up in the morning just to fiddle with it, discovering new features. Do you sometimes get like that when you get new things???

A labour of love: Long days, bee stings and a global premiere

“Amkeni” roughly translates to “Rise Up” in Kiswahili. This is the call of Chambuko Amkeni, a community-led conservation group involved in mangrove restoration and protection. In 2025, I had the honour of working with them to document their journey on women’s leadership in coastal and marine conservation, climate change adaptation and the blue economy, for a collaboration between Mission inclusion and the BBC StoryWorks'   for the   Living Legacy Series . This was my first time working on a project of this magnitude not to mention one that would have a global audience. To say this has been one of the highlights of the last two years is an understatement. Just thinking about it, my heart swells with pride. I feel like a mother watching her baby grow and come of age (please don't tell my daughter this!). Five Books I Want To Read in 2019

My love for reading books has always been bubbling beneath the surface and it has finally blown over. I've not always been a great reader. To make matters worse, motherhood has given me even less time for leisure activities like reading. However, I started pushing myself a bit and now I make time to read.  I find it a good use of time to read while in the matatu, when I take myself on a lunch date or when my eyes need a rest from constantly staring at a screen.  This year, I have decided to challenge myself a bit more by documenting the books I have read and loved as well as have a running list of books that I would love to read.
