All Black Lace

I can never get tired of all black outfits. Add to that my love for lace and you have me hooked. I bought this dress two years ago and I can happily say that it is one of the most worn pieces in my wardrobe. I have even worn it as a top. I have wanted to wear it as a black lace skirt but I can never find a top that can conceal it's high collar. Anyway, I brought it out once again two Sundays ago while looking for something to wear to Church. I find that it fits more snugly now and even though I do not like clothes that fit like a second skin, I gave this one a pass because of the black colour.
The danger of an all black outfit is the chance that you will look dull and sick. I tried to prevent this by wearing my green statement necklace and sandals. I topped it all off with a red lip. But I do love the slimming effect and most importantly the simplicity and elegance of the outfit.

A labour of love: Long days, bee stings and a global premiere

“Amkeni” roughly translates to “Rise Up” in Kiswahili. This is the call of Chambuko Amkeni, a community-led conservation group involved in mangrove restoration and protection. In 2025, I had the honour of working with them to document their journey on women’s leadership in coastal and marine conservation, climate change adaptation and the blue economy, for a collaboration between Mission inclusion and the BBC StoryWorks'   for the   Living Legacy Series . This was my first time working on a project of this magnitude not to mention one that would have a global audience. To say this has been one of the highlights of the last two years is an understatement. Just thinking about it, my heart swells with pride. Five Books I Want To Read in 2019

My love for reading books has always been bubbling beneath the surface and it has finally blown over. I've not always been a great reader. To make matters worse, motherhood has given me even less time for leisure activities like reading. However, I started pushing myself a bit and now I make time to read.  I find it a good use of time to read while in the matatu, when I take myself on a lunch date or when my eyes need a rest from constantly staring at a screen.  This year, I have decided to challenge myself a bit more by documenting the books I have read and loved as well as have a running list of books that I would love to read.
