My Style: Button-Front Skirt + Sequins

Happy new month!!
It's warm again in Nairobi, and I can't explain how happy I am to have another chance to switch from winter-wear to summer-wear.
I have loved button-front skirts ever they became a thing. I bought a denim maxi button-front skirt, bringing back the 90s trend, and wore it a lot (sorry I haven't taken any photos of that skirt yet). Then I decided I wanted a shorter one in another fabric, and this khaki skirt, just fit the bill.
I wore it with a sequin top, which last made an appearance on the blog here. For accessories I opted for pointy-toe flats, a navy belt, gold loop earrings and a couple of midi rings. I love a bold red lip so I didn't have to think twice about adding a red lip to complete my outfit.



P.S. Sorry for the month-long hiatus. I took a much needed break to recharge my batteries but I am back now. Here's to an amazing second half to the year.

A labour of love: Long days, bee stings and a global premiere

“Amkeni” roughly translates to “Rise Up” in Kiswahili. This is the call of Chambuko Amkeni, a community-led conservation group involved in mangrove restoration and protection. In 2025, I had the honour of working with them to document their journey on women’s leadership in coastal and marine conservation, climate change adaptation and the blue economy, for a collaboration between Mission inclusion and the BBC StoryWorks'   for the   Living Legacy Series . This was my first time working on a project of this magnitude not to mention one that would have a global audience. To say this has been one of the highlights of the last two years is an understatement. Just thinking about it, my heart swells with pride. Five Books I Want To Read in 2019

My love for reading books has always been bubbling beneath the surface and it has finally blown over. I've not always been a great reader. To make matters worse, motherhood has given me even less time for leisure activities like reading. However, I started pushing myself a bit and now I make time to read.  I find it a good use of time to read while in the matatu, when I take myself on a lunch date or when my eyes need a rest from constantly staring at a screen.  This year, I have decided to challenge myself a bit more by documenting the books I have read and loved as well as have a running list of books that I would love to read.
